A Venice Arts crew of photographers went to South Africa in 2006 to teach photography skills to 15 HIV positive women, recent moms, or moms-to-be, who reside in the townships of Cape Town. These extraordinary women documented their lives and shared their stories.
In this web video, listen to project organizers talk about the teaching experience, and view scenes of the women at work photographing their life in their homes and neighborhoods. For more images and stories, visit the project website.
What I can say to my family, and my community, is that the most important thing is love, not money. Sometimes they say that they don’t visit us because they have nothing to give us. We need love, not things. Even with money you can still feel alone inside.
